Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway, the 28th theatrical in Gosho Aoyama's long-running franchise, opened at the top of the Japanese box office on its launch weekend — extending a streak of number-one April debuts that Toho first established with Zero the Enforcer in 2018.
The new film centres on Tōru Amuro and a long-haul highway case, and carries over the franchise's recent lean toward spy-thriller beats over traditional locked-room mysteries. Director Chika Nagaoka returns after 2024's Million-Dollar Pentagram.
Japanese outlets note that the opening weekend outperformed the Conan franchise's five-year average by roughly eighteen percent, suggesting the series remains one of the most dependable commercial bets in the spring anime calendar.
